1st September - 2nd October  

Kings Park Festival - The Kings Park Festival is a long-running tradition to celebrate spring and the wonderful wildflowers that appear throughout the south west of Western Australia during this time. From its humble beginnings as a five day event in 1965, depicting plant specimens in jars on trestle tables to the current format of floral displays, live music, exhibitions, workshops, interpretive artworks, guided walks and family activities during the entire month of September, the Festival has always attracted large crowds. The 2011 Kings Park Festival will celebrate Trees for Life, supporting the UN International Year of Forests.

 

19th - 23rd August  

Nannup Flower and Garden Festival
Nannup Winter is an especially exciting time in Nannup, everyone waits expectantly for the planter boxes and town gardens to burst into colour in preparation for the annual Flower and Garden Festival. The four-day Festival is packed with activities for gardeners and those looking for entertainment and a weekend away.

 

7th September  

Newdegate Machinery Field Day
Newdegate Recreation Precinct, just 400 kilometres south east of Perth. Opportunity for manufacturers, distributors of farm machinery, equipment and other aides to primary production to show the capabilities of their products, and for primary producers to view the latest and the best in equipment designed to promote better and more economical farming methods. Sheep and cattle are also on display.
Off-road, outdoors and camping, family interest displays, fashion parades, art and photography competition and displays, plant nurseries, entertainment for the children and two alfresco dining areas cater for the whole family.

 

10th September   W andering Annual Fair
Wandering The Wandering Annual Fair is an event for all community groups to display their wares and exhibit their group's achievements within the community. There is a variety of displays for all to enjoy from Clydesdale horse displays, vintage machinery, car and motorbike displays, Alpacas, Donkeys, Petting farms, as well as a bouncy castle and dunking machine.

10th - 18th September   S hinju Matsuri Festival
An experience like no other, the beautiful northwest town of Broome comes alive with 9 days of festivities that showcases talents of Broome including traditional and contemporary arts, and industry, community and tourism events which celebrate and acknowledge the town’s unique culture, history and diversity.

19th - 24th September  

Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show
Been running for 27 years, and is internationally recognised as one of the best in Australia. Flowers are collected at the peak of the season from within the Shire of Ravensthorpe, 12,872 square kilometres. Because of the variations in geology and climate an unusually large number of different species occur in the region, up to 700 varieties of which are exhibited and identified with their scientific and common names at the show. Visitors are encouraged to take photographs. A Wildflower Expo and Market Day is held on the middle Saturday of the show.

 

22nd - 23rd September  

Busselton Wildflower Exhibition
Held at 47 Kent St, Busselton. Presented in an interesting and informative way. Massed bowls of flowers bring the colours and perfume of springtime indoors giving those unable to 'go bush' a small taste of the outdoors. In addition to the display of wildflowers, lunches and teas are available along with stalls selling homemade produce such as cakes, all things chocolate, chutneys and pickles, craftwork and second hand books.

 

1st - 2nd October   YORK GALA WEEKEND
Proudly supporting the Fred Hollows Foundation. Held 1st - 2nd October at Peace Park, York. Starting at 8am on Saturday with the markets. Saturday night 8pm is the Fancy Dress Ball held at the Town Hall. Sunday at Peace Park is the Running of The Brides and various events, then at 12noon is the Vintage and Veteran cars in a street parade.

1st - 8th October   Perth Royal Show
The IGA Perth Royal Show is Perth's biggest community event attracting 400,000 visitors from the city and the country every year. With a rich history spanning 170 years, the Show is an iconic social and cultural event which showcases WA agriculture, small business and entertainment.

1st - 16th October   Bendigo Bank Southern Art and Craft Trail
More than 60 venues will present exhibitions of fine art and craft in various display spaces such as galleries, studios, wineries, restaurants, community halls and retail outlets in a wide area of the Great Southern region. Visitors can see painting, sculpture, woodcraft, jewellery, pottery, studio glass and a host of other art and craft disciplines. More than 300 artists living and working in the Great Southern will be represented. Again this year a special trail of public artworks will be presented as part of the main event. These artworks have been commissioned by local authorities, State Government and corporate bodies and are in varied art forms and mediums.
2nd October  

Perth Upmarket
Perth Upmarket is Perth's premier quarterly market for original and handcrafted wares. The market brings together over 150 of Perth's most talented artists, designers, craftsmen and gourmets all under one roof at the University of Western Australia's Winthrop Hall. 7th - 9th October   The HIA SPRING HOME SHOW is a comprehensive home exhibition, jointly presented by the Housing Industry Association (HIA) and Exibit Exhibitions, that brings exhibitors and homemakers together. The PERTH POOL & SPA EXPO is an exciting new addition to the home show and showcases over one pavillion everything for an outdoor lifestyle. The home show targets those considering the purchase of a new or existing home or undertaking a major renovation. The event’s main focus is on new season and renewal themes and features garden design and fencing ideas, pergolas, paving and barbecues, indoor and outdoor furniture, interior design advice, furnishings, window treatments, lighting, floors, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, electrical appliances, air conditioning, security and sustainable living products and ideas. T he Valley Spring Bush Festival
Nanson The Valley Spring Bush Festival held on the weekend of 8 and 9 October 2011 focuses on family activities with a nature bush theme. The weekend will consist of Bush Arts, Bush Instruments Workshops, Bush Poetry, Family Bush Dance and many other activities where families and the community can come together and camp in the beautiful bush camp grounds.

 

14th - 16th October   N anga Music Festival
The 2011 Nanga Music Festival continues its celebration of acoustic and folk music with a stunning range of artists gathered under the tall trees of Nanga Bush Camp near Dwellingup, WA. The Nanga Music Festival is all things acoustic, an exciting adventure of styles and influences; from bush ballads to blues, from celtic to contemporary, to folk, showcased by a collection of WA’s finest emerging artists balanced with an exciting mix of interstate performers.

21st - 22nd October  

K elmscott Annual Show
The Show is located at the Rushton Park Showgrounds, corner of River Road and Orlando Street in Kelmscott. Gates Open Friday 21st 4pm to 10pm. Saturday 22nd 9am to 9pm.

 

23rd October  

British Auto Classic
South Western Hwy. Waroona. A family friendly event with something for everyone, with a huge display of classic British motor vehicles. This is the largest event of its kind in regional W. A. With some 100 plus traders offering a range of goods and services second to none. The event is 100% Smoke Free and offers a wide range of healthy food choices and top quality local fresh produce. The adjacent Memorial Hall is the venue for the Regional Wine and Gourmet Expo with ten of the top wineries in the region, a cider maker, cheese maker, gourmet cook and olive oil producer.

 

28th - 30th October  

Wave Rock Weekender
Wave Rock RD, Hyden. Music, camping, freedom and good times on the edge of the desert. Wave Rock Weekender offers a combination of great music and film, incredible location, spring weather, positive environmental action and connection with the authentic Australian bush. Soul Highway, producers of the Wave Rock Weekender, aim to build soulful events for artists, patrons and staff that everyone can enjoy and look forward to each year.

 

5th November  

Burning of the Vine Cuttings
Stevens Road, Margaret River. Join Leeuwin Estate Winery in celebrating another successful vintage, as they festively burn the year's vine cuttings.
This event, in its second decade in Margaret River, revives the historic European tradition of vigneron communities gathering to celebrate the completion of pruning with wine, music and a bonfire of the vine cuttings. Relax in the famously beautiful surrounds of Leeuwin Estate as you picnic on the soft lawns, enjoy world class wines from Leeuwin's bar and be entertained as fire-twirlers, drummers, fireworks and the bonfire give a spectacular farewell to Vintage 2011.
Food stalls, glowlight sales and children's activities make this a community event you can't miss.

 

6th November  

Annual Geographe Crush Food and Wine Festival
Bicentennial Square, Bunbury
Innovations include Kids in the Kitchen area, indulgent VIP Lounge. The cooking demonstrations will incorporate a Chef's Challenge and there will be three wine seminars. Crush is the unique opportunity for visitors to taste the range of Geographe wines. The region encompasses Harvey, Collie, Dardanup, Donnybrook, Bunbury, Capel and Busselton and is building a reputation on both its red and white varieties.

 

16th November  

International Day of Tolerance
Observed on 16 November each year, the day was declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance.
