The Hawkesbury Harvest Farmers and Fine Food Markets are just what the doctor ordered. Now running on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. Twice a month for your enjoyment. (8am - 12noon). Entry to the Showground is via Showground Road. (A new set of traffic lights between Gilbert and Carrington Rd) An abundance of fresh produce to tempt the taste buds of most hunters and gatherers. It's also a family pet-friendly market, so you can bring your furry friend along as well. Let's begin our journey by succumbing to the tantalizing aroma of freshly ground coffee beans brewing away in the crispy early morning air of the Show grounds. As you sip your coffee and munch on your egg and bacon roll, you will drawn by the perfumes of the many freshly cut blooms from Flowering Eucalyptus with a vast array of colours and species to suit all occasions. As you do the rounds it's hard not to be drawn to the amazing variety of fresh herbs and spices available. The crispy baby rockets, extra virgin olive oils, sun dried tomatoes. Willowbrae cheese maker Karen Borg uses a traditional French farmhouse method to produce a variety of goats cheese sold at the markets by her husband David. Crunchy sourdough breads, traditional pasta's, fresh eggs, mushroom, sauces, pastes can be can be accommodated. The fantastic array of gourmet foods will turn a staple Aussie meal into a Chef's delight ! Enjoy browsing through the stalls of fresh fruit and veges, freshly picked berries, crunchy greens, vine ripened tomatoes, stone fruit and apples - even an apple pie or two ! The market@bungendore began in 2011 when a local art cooperative group called the pARTnership took over the running of an existing market. Since then this market has grown to be a warm and friendly country market offering a wide selection of handmade or homegrown goods. While only small, you can discover original artworks, handmade gifts of every description, homewares, clothing and jewellery, along with local produce and plants. In the kitchen our caterer cooks up a storm with a range of snacks, cakes and of course - a good cup of coffee. If you are in the Canberra region on the 2nd Sunday of the month then come along for a dose of good old fashioned country hospitality. The market is just one aspect of Bungendore so there is plenty to fill a day. Entry to the market is by gold coin donation to the Bungendore War Memorial Hall Restoration Fund.
