The annual Granny Smith Festival celebrates the life and legacy of one of our district’s most famous citizens, Maria Ann Smith - aka Granny Smith - who, back in 1868, ‘accidentally’ grew the first batch of little green apples that bear her name and are now grown all over the world. This year we're celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Granny Smith apple. The Granny Smith Festival began in 1985 and is now regarded as one of Sydney’s largest street festivals, a true community carnival, full of colour and good old fashioned fun. It is supported by local businesses, sporting and service organisations, churches, schools and the wider community. The festival attracts around 80,000 visitors to Eastwood. It is a chance for the people and businesses of the City of Ryde to come together and celebrate the history and culture of the area. Join us for live music, performances, our Grand Street Parade, kids activities, youth zone, food and market stalls, fireworks and more.

Oatley Village Festival is a major community event in the St George area, attracting over 15,000 local residents and 180 food craft and variety stalls. This year Oatley Lions Club commemorates over 41 years of community service in the St George area. Festival attractions include amusement rides, Harley motor bike rides, pony rides, roving bands and two stage bands. In addition to a variety of quality food sites, this event attracts a wide range of craft goods and quality merchandise. PARKING Visitors and stall holders are encouraged to park in the Georges River Campus at the northern end of the Oatley Memorial Park (enter via Hurstville Road) to ensure there is adequate parking for shoppers. FESTIVAL NEWSLETTER Stall holders new to Oatley are encouraged to subscribe online to the Festival News mailing list to receive notification when online bookings open in July. Details of the stall prices are available on our website. Stall holder bookings are closed for 2018.

This year we have bigger amusement ride provider, Splash Dancer Group Shows, Local Cricket team performance & Dress to impress photo booth. Our event has been going for over 22 years, this time we expecting well over 4000 people in attendance, with over 100 General and International food Stalls, Our loyalty Harley Davidson Motor Trike rides, Stage entertainment from local schools and performance groups will boost the crowds. It’s family oriented yearly event, 100% of the profit goes to local Community projects, like local schools, Children Sports club, Children's Hospital to name a few. This will be our 13th annual DamFest - which includes a Community Fair, Swapmeet, Car and Bike Show. Admission to DamFest is FREE. The event is a fun day for the whole family featuring Live entertainment, Car Show, Bike Show, Swap Meet ,displays by emergency services (NSW Police, NSW Fire & Rescue, RFS), Helicopter Joy Flights, Kindi Farm for the kids, Market stalls, amusements, rides, and lots of freebies for the children. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the Warragamba Silverdale area, provide a fund raising opportunity for local community groups and organisations, to give car and bike enthusiasts a showcase for their vehicles in a totally safe and family friendly environment and to raise funds for the Warragamba Silverdale Neighbourhood Centre with proceeds of the day being directed back into the community. The Bendigo Agricultural Show Society was founded in 1859 and has conducted an annual spring show every year since (excepting during World War 2). The Agricultural Show Society is proud of its history and has been a major player in the community providing facilities for user groups within the Bendigo region and hosting National events. Held over two days, Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27, the ever-popular Bendigo Agricultural Show will again draw the crowds with fantastic entertainment. All the usual attractions will be yours to enjoy. There’ll be the thrill of collecting the showbags, ranging from old favourites to some exciting new ones, for both children and adults, there’ll be animals, including the nursery and horse events, cookery, craft, floral and photography exhibits, and so much more.

In November each year, Campbelltown City Council invites locals and visitors from across the state to celebrate one of the longest running community festivals in the country – the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost! Steeped in history, and inspired by the region’s most famous ghost story, this year’s festival runs from 2 to 11 November and offers a variety of frighteningly fun and free activities for the whole family to enjoy. Head to Campbelltown during the festival to experience the colourful Street Parade, catch local and national talent at the Fisher’s Gig all ages music event, wander through the prestigious Fisher’s Ghost Art Award exhibition, treat the little ones to a day of discovery and creativity at Fisher’s Kids, test your stamina in the Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run, or pick up a bargain at the Street Fair. The Glenaeon Family Fair takes place on Saturday 3 November from 10am – 4pm. The Art Show runs from Friday 2 – Sunday 4 November. The Glenaeon Family Fair is a standout annual event on Sydney's lower north shore for all the family, featuring wholesome, fun and creative activities for children of all ages, plus unique market stalls, scrumptious food, and a world-class art show. Children can test their skills climbing the Jacob’s Ladder, throwing a ball at our Coconut Shy, or scaling the heights of the famous Lollipop Climb. They will also enjoy crystal mining, face painting, wooden toy-making and much more. There’ll be delicious homemade and organic food, fresh home-baked cakes and traditional lemonade, plus our own Coffee Hut, Chai Tent and Sushi Stall. Entertainment will be provided by wandering minstrels and our own up-and-coming star performers on the main stage. Plus, there’s a Storytelling tent especially for younger audience members. This year, the Fair committee is working with the team from Ruzi to help reduce our environmental footprint by using reusable cups, plates and cutlery. Ultimately, our goal is to make the Fair a zero-waste event. Hosted by the school's parent community, the Glenaeon Family Fair & Art Show is also a great opportunity to find out more about Steiner education, view primary and high school students’ work and talk to teachers about the difference a Glenaeon education makes. The Glenaeon Art Show showcases art and craft from both emerging and established artists with a particular commitment to local artists and artisans. The 2018 show promises to be yet another milestone event with over 150 great pieces of art on show to browse and buy. For the first time this year, several shops at Castlecrag will be exhibiting some of the Art Show’s paintings on their walls and in their windows in the days leading up to the show. We are seeking market stalls for Saturday Morning November 3rd 2018 between 9am and 1pm to trade in our main shopping precinct Binney Street Euroa. As stated we have very limited retail including children’s wear, footwear, plant/nurseries, and general we have 60 to 70 sites available. During the morning we have a street parade, vehicle displays, continuous music and a variety of foods stalls along with many other static displays. Stall sites starting from $15.

This is our major fundraising event, with all funds going directly back into the school to provide more opportunities for the 86 students attending. The inaugural event was held November 2013 where over 7,000 people attended Mona Vale Village Park. Glenbrook Spring Festival is an annual event on the second Saturday of November and has been running for 35 years. Ross Street (between Park St and Cross St) and Park Street (between Ross St and Euroka Rd) are closed for the day. The Food and Wine Festival starts at 11am and is located in the lower section of Ross Street. Street stalls will be located in Ross St and Park St as well as in the Village Green of Glenbrook Park. Food stalls will be located in Glenbrook Park adjacent to the sportsground. Jubilee Amusements and the Petting Zoo will be operating on the sportsground of Glenbrook Park with relevant food stalls and craft stalls adjacent. The event will be based around our draw card attractions where locals can participate in all activities such as Dog Sports and the ever popular dog Competitions. Proposed activities for the event include dog sport demonstrations, various number of dog competitions & leading industry dog stalls, & small local dog business as well, also promoting responsible dog ownership to the local community. We are also supporting local dog rescue’s & local dog breed club’s & dog clubs as well. The opportunity also exists to raise money for a dog related charitable organisation such as various dog rescues group within NSW.
