On Friday 6 March 2020, between 5pm and 10pm, The City of Ryde will host the Coulter Street Party in the heart of Gladesville. To stimulate Gladesville’s night time economy, live music, a pop up bar, food, market stalls and entertainment will bring hundreds of people to the Gladesville town centre in celebration of the recently upgraded Coulter Street. The event will occupy Coulter Street, Trim Place and areas of Gladesville Public School grounds. The market stalls will be located in the Gladesville Public School grounds. We are particularly interested in local, homemade, creative and interesting goods. There will also be some capacity for ready to eat food stalls / food trucks. Held over 3 days, with a killer line up of International and National Blues Bands, Aboriginal Cultural Activities and Family Fun the festival guarantees it caters for all lovers of music. The outdoor, family orientated, relaxed nature of Girrakool Blues Festival & BBQ, not far from the M1 between Sydney and Newcastle, and perfectly situated in Mt Penang Event Park on the Central Coast, offers free camping, and comfort for all under the big top tent. Aussie Icon, the “Real Thing” Russell Morris, will headline the 5th addition of the Girrakool Blues Festival and BBQ, along with Son of Jimmy Vaughan (Nephew of Texan Blues Legend Stevie Ray Vaughan) Tyrone Vaughan (USA), and Sacred Steel phenomenon Nikki Brown teaming up with Australian Slide Guitarist Dom Turner as The Turner Brown Band (USA/AUS). For the blues enthusiasts #guitarfriday, will see young gun Jesse Redwing; Chicago Blues Band Tom Cat Playground; Australia’s premier blues guitarist Ray Beadle; and finishing with some Texan blues with Texan Blues Hall of Famer Tyrone Vaughan (USA) with the Darren Jack Band. Saturday will be wall to wall music for festival goers starting with Blues comp winners Mirrakooka; 70’s soul style band Rambal (VIC); Janis Joplin-esque singer songstress Cass Eager & the Velvet Rope; four of Australia’s leading blues players join forces to salute 4 the “King(s)” of Blues, with All the Kings Men, of Dynamic Hypnotics fame Continental Robert & the Trouble People, Australia’s foremost indigenous female blues writer and performer, Marlene Cummings; high energy Blue-Billy-Grass-Rockin’ band 19-Twenty, followed by an uplifting gospel blues musical feast with the Turner Brown Band (USA/AUS) and finishing the night with a psychedelic trip down memory lane with Russell Morris. And finally, the Sunday Family Funday will cater for families with children under 12yrs free all day, starting with the local Kariong High School Band; band competition runner up Blues Wranglers; Acoustic dou The Blues Preachers will take you as far back as the 1920’s; The Shane Pacey Trio is a no nonsense trip of the blues back pages; One of 3 Australian artist to be picked for “Playing for Change” powerhouse singer Genevieve Chadwick & her band The Stones Throw and to finish the music programming is a once only Girrakool exclusive - The Defenders.  Girrakool Blues Festival also offers many ticketing options including Season, 2-Day, Single Day tickets. Tickets will be limited so make sure you don’t miss out. Kids under 12 are free Sunday and under 5’s are free all weekend. Springwood Foundation Day represents a huge day for the lower Blue Mountains community to participate in the festival that celebrates the spirit of our town. Whether young or old, you will find much to see & do as you stroll through Springwood on the day. The main road is closed to traffic from 7 am to 5 pm, allowing pedestrians to enjoy over 130 stalls, a wonderful range of food from around the world, live entertainment including 3 main stages with 25+ performances on the day, local bands, singers, dance groups, rides for the kiddies & much, much more. Applications NOW OPEN! - Food and Market Stalls, Street Performers and Stage Entertainers. Applications close 4 weeks before the event. Springwood Foundation Day gives local and regional organisations and businesses a chance to show the diversity that makes up our community. If you are involved in a local community group, run a local business, or make beautiful things, then book a stall and show what you do.
