North Ryde Twilight Community Market
**TWILIGHT COMMUNITY MARKET AT NORTH RYDE ON SATURDAY, 14th DECEMBER** Our next **Twilight Community Market** on **Saturday, 14th December** between **4.00-8.00pm** will have a special Christmas theme. Visitors from near and far come to connect and shop while supporting our friendly and talented stall holders. Once again we welcome our community to this increasingly popular event held in the beautiful twilight hours during Spring. After visiting the market and having dinner, continue the Christmas spirit as you stroll the local streets to take in the creative decorations and Christmas lights festooning the houses. We will present a variety of activities for the children who will be entertained while mums and dads, family and friends can browse among the great variety of stalls selling gourmet foods (local honey, handmade chocolates, conserves, jams and marmalades, sticky date pudding and fruit cakes and organic fine foods) and baked goods (delicious desserts and cakes). If arts and crafts are of interest there will be handmade crafts, cards, apparel and accessories (scarves, bags and hair clips and bows), jewellery of many styles and types and homewares (soft furnishings, eco-friendly products, floral homewares, candles) and great Christmas gift ideas. Also, handmade children’s toys and even a skincare consultant on-site. For the plant-minded there will be an array of succulents. For the children there will be face painting and play activities and, by popular demand, "Snelly" the Clown is joining us again making magic with his balloons and performing tricks. So many of our visitors and stall holders comment on the **welcoming atmosphere and wonderful community feel** of our Twilight Community Market. It has been described a having a **great vibe**. Set in the beautiful grounds at North Ryde Community Church, located at 6-8 Cutler Parade, North Ryde (behind Council carpark) the market provides an opportunity to sit and relax and enjoy a delicious Devonshire Tea or be tempted by the wafting aroma of sausages on the BBQ or traditional Korean and Chinese cuisine as you take in the atmosphere. So, come and discover this community meeting point and join in the family fun, purchase your Christmas and decorations or just treat yourself to that special something. Then be enticed by the variety of options for dinner. North Ryde Community Church has always supported events and programs that engage with the local and wider community. **Dates for our Twilight Community Markets to be held between 4.00-8.00pm are Saturday, 14th December, 2019 (not January) and Saturday, 8th February and Saturday, 14th March, 2020.** ** *This project is supported by funding from the City of Ryde* **

Living Green Vegan Market - March 2020

29 Mar 2020
Albert Hall, Commonwealth Avenue, Yarralumla ACT 2600
Living Green Vegan Market - March 2020
Living Green Festival—Sunday 29th March 2020—Albert Hall Canberra’s unique Living Green Festival is not just another environmental expo. It’s a fun-filled festival that focusses equally on sustainability and compassion, showcasing green ideas and solutions that work for the planet, for humans and for other animals. This free day of fun for the whole family will be back at the Albert Hall for the eighth time on Sunday 29th March 2020 from 10am-4pm. What makes the Living Green Festival different is that you might find a stall about lounge-shaped water tanks right next to a stall about the plight of orangutans in Indonesia or deaf dogs in Australia. Sustainability is a big theme of the event. Not just in the range of stalls and services showcased at the Festival, but how the event runs itself. The Festival organisers are proud of the event’s ‘green credentials’. All food and drink served at the event is plant-based, which has a much lower ‘carbon footprint’ than animal products such as meat and dairy. It also means all food waste from the event is composted. And not just the food – all servingware used at the event is also compostable, meaning very little waste from the event ends up in landfill or needing to be recycled. So, while nibbling a delicious plant-based cheesecake made by a local Canberra bakery, or sampling a tasty Malaysian vegetable curry from a local haute cuisine restaurant, you can learn about energy efficiency measures for your home at the many eco-friendly market stalls. Retro-fitted double-glazing solutions for existing windows is always one of the most popular exhibits, offering festival attendees the chance to see how it works in practice. Kids are spoilt for choice as well. This year there will be an entire free Kidzone, with an 8-metre rock-climbing wall that kids (and kids-at-heart) can scale to get the best view of the Festival. The Kidzone will also offer free face painting, games and art and craft activities. Festival-goers will also be able to chill out in the grounds of the Albert Hall while listening to live music and entertainment including Petrichor, Hope Street, Monique Lewis, and even a spot of swing dancing! The Festival will also offer a range of free workshops, talks and cooking demonstrations. Oh, and finally, the Living Green Festival has a dog café! That’s right, dogs are welcome at the event. ‘Carson’s Café’ (Carson’s a lovely poodle and the face of the café), will be right in the middle of the 2017 Living Green Festival serving treats for people and dogs alike. So come and experience ‘a kinder shade of green’ for a day at Canberra’s seventh Living Green Festival! To recap… What: The 8th Living Green Festival Where: Albert Hall, Canberra When: Sunday, 29th March, 10am-4pm Why: a kinder shade of green for the planet, animals and humans Further info: www.lgf.org.au or the LGF Facebook page.
